Mix the warmth of the SID chip with the arcade-like sounds of the Yamaha YM chip, with the excellent FM-YAM cartridge. With this device by Xentax your C64 can use up to 12 channels, making it a must-have for any chip tune enthusiast and musician. The FM-YAM cartridge is available from our the Protovision Shop in limited quantities. Most recently, also an optional FM-YAM cable pack was stocked, which may also be purchased separately.

22.03.2022 - 1979 Home Computer Buyer's Guide: Apple II, Commodore PET, TRS-80, and The Very Obscure! - new Video from '8-Bit Show And Tell'
Let's take a close look at the Home Computer Buyer's Guide that Popular Science published in their March 1979 issue. Their top concerns were: what programming language did each computer ship with, did they have enough RAM (you need more if you're loading the language from cassette or disk rather than running it from ROM!), and did it allow for later add-ons via ports and slots? Computers considered include the well-known "trinity" of Apple II, Commodore PET, and TRS-80, and many more machines that range from rare to completely forgotten: Compucolor, VideoBrain, Sol, Heath, Interact, Bally, Sorcerer, RCA VIP, PeCos One, Challenger. Which one would you purchase?

Because he came down sick straight after receiving The A500 Mini, and TODAY is his first day with the ‘land of the living’ this INITIAL video is not a full review but rather his first impressions of Retrogames Ltd’s latest reimagined Commodore Computer, with some interesting information thrown in their to boot.

For A1200, A600, and any other hardware with a 2,5" IDE interface. The 2.5" Buffered IDE interface allows to connect to your Amiga up to 2 IDE devices, like hard disks, Compact Flash or SD2IDE adapters. It features a buffer for the 24 data signals to stabilizing data transfers and also fix well knowed issues with the IDE LED of Amiga 1200/600.

Kultboy.com has been around for 20 years now. Initially still smiled at, Kultboy.com has now firmly anchored itself in German retro society and it's hard to imagine life without it. To celebrate this anniversary, a special digital magazine was made. Exactly 42 pages is this Kultboy.com issue strong! The layout was intentionally based on the old ASM issues because this is still timeless. In the issue you can find test reports, interviews, sweepstakes, stories and a very worthy obituary of Ulrich Mühl. You can download the complete issue as .pdf.

18.03.2022 - C64 game 'Top-hole Golf' V1.6 released
Top-hole golf is a very nice 3D golf game for the Commodore 64 by Matthew Clarke. Sadly the development is abandoned, so this preview version 1.6 is as far as this game (presumably) gets, with one course designed: "Sierre des Alpes, Switzerland". Make sure to select this course from the settings before you "Tee off!" in the main menu.

Master of Tiles is a simple puzzle board game for for the Commodore c64 and 1 player. The game was written by the late Benjamin (Pumpkin) Bommer, back in the early 1990s, but never actually got released until now. Although the game was more or less finished back in the day. Daniel Krajzewicz and Richard Bayliss have teamed up help bring this final production to life. You can get the game as digital download for a bargain (name your own price).
